My Favorite Posts of 2016 | The Musings of Mum

Last week I shared our Top 10 Posts, based on your shares, likes and visits. Today, it’s my turn to share my favorites. Coincidentally, every series I wrote in 2016, turned out to be in my top 10. 10. Summer Homeschool Prep Series This was my first series ever. I’m a planner, scheduler, list maker, box checker, you name it. I’ll admit it’s not my best work, but it’s what kicked of my serious blogging year. 9. Christmas in Bolivia I loved writing this post, because it brought me back to my roots, my people, my land. And the fact that it’s all about Christmas,Read More →

12 Bible Verses For The Weary Mom | The Musings of Mum

A few weeks ago, I shared how exhausted I’d been, and how I realized that all the running and doing affected my health, and left me running on fumes. The thing is, that when we’re weary we get distracted. When we’re distracted we let our guard down. When we let our guard down, the enemy attacks. This is when we believe the lie that we are not running and doing enough. We even believe the lie, that we are not enough. I’m here to remind you (and me) that Jesus wants to take your burden, in exchange for His peace. Here are 12 verses toRead More →

This past year was full of unexpected changes for our family; and though in the beginning things looked grim, the Lord blessed the final outcome. This was also the year in which I finally started to blog regularly, something I’d been wanting to do for years. I want to thank you, my readers for your support and encouragement in this season, and I can’t begin to explain how exited I am about what is coming in 2017. Here are your top posts from 2016. 10. The Importance of Chores Yes, we all want to serve our families, children included; however failing to teach them toRead More →

5 Reasons Why You Should Teach Apologetics to Your Children

Apologetics have become a very important part of my life. I’m the type of person that needs to fully understand the why, behind every because. For ten years I’ve read countless books on Christian theology, attended conferences, and taken classes at church. I can say whole-heartedly say that I know why I believe what I believe, however it wasn’t until recently that I felt a calling to share not only what I’ve learned, but to urge my family to always be ready. Studies show we are losing our kids to the world in elementary, middle school, and high school and not in just in college asRead More →

Today’s song, Build Your Kingdom Here by Rend Collective, is one on my favorite worship songs EVER. If you come and visit, there’s a 99% chance you’ll walk in on me uncontrollably dancing, and singing it at the top of my lungs. I love the call for revival. Don’t you think that REVIVAL is what our country needs the most at this particular point in history? Because I could not pick a specific stanza to share with you, here are the complete lyrics. Feel free to turn up the volume, hit play and sing along, as you already know I am. Build Your kingdom hereRead More →

I’ve been blessed with great friendships in my life. These friendships have seen my family go through serious struggles, and they have prayed and cried with us at times, and us with them. These friends have encouraged our walk with Christ and continue to keep us accountable to doing all things in order to honor the King. As important and wonderful as these friendships have been, they pale in comparison to the friendship offered to us by the King of Kings. Today’s song, Who is This King by Pocket Full of Rocks reminds us who we lift our praise to. He is the King who saysRead More →

Todays’ song is I Am Mountain by Gungor. I had second, third and even fourth thoughts about including this song. So far I’ve shared songs that have encouraged me, I’ve shared lyrics that remind me of Bible passages, and I’ve shared songs that helped strengthen my Christian walk. This is not one of those songs. Why then, would I include it in a series that is intended to bring encouragement? On day 2 of this series I mentioned that is not uncommon to sing a song, without really thinking about what we’re saying. You’re thinking about the kids, work, dinner, all while singing along. This isRead More →

Todays song All Around Me by Flyleaf is not your typical worship song, I’m aware of that. However this is a song I love. I love the intimate relationship with the Lord that it implies. Please watch the video and listen to the lyrics, before reading on. (This post contains affiliate links, see my full disclosure here.) Flyleaf’s lead singer Lacy Sturm was a guest speaker at my church about a year ago. Lacey shared her powerful testimony, and how the Lord truly brought beauty from ashes. There was such passion in every word she uttered, such a deep desire for God, and a type ofRead More →
