12 Bible Verses For The Weary Mom | The Musings of Mum

A few weeks ago, I shared how exhausted I’d been, and how I realized that all the running and doing affected my health, and left me running on fumes. The thing is, that when we’re weary we get distracted. When we’re distracted we let our guard down. When we let our guard down, the enemy attacks. This is when we believe the lie that we are not running and doing enough. We even believe the lie, that we are not enough. I’m here to remind you (and me) that Jesus wants to take your burden, in exchange for His peace. Here are 12 verses toRead More →

Today’s song, Build Your Kingdom Here by Rend Collective, is one on my favorite worship songs EVER. If you come and visit, there’s a 99% chance you’ll walk in on me uncontrollably dancing, and singing it at the top of my lungs. I love the call for revival. Don’t you think that REVIVAL is what our country needs the most at this particular point in history? Because I could not pick a specific stanza to share with you, here are the complete lyrics. Feel free to turn up the volume, hit play and sing along, as you already know I am. Build Your kingdom hereRead More →

I’ve been blessed with great friendships in my life. These friendships have seen my family go through serious struggles, and they have prayed and cried with us at times, and us with them. These friends have encouraged our walk with Christ and continue to keep us accountable to doing all things in order to honor the King. As important and wonderful as these friendships have been, they pale in comparison to the friendship offered to us by the King of Kings. Today’s song, Who is This King by Pocket Full of Rocks reminds us who we lift our praise to. He is the King who saysRead More →

I first heard this song while trying to minister to someone I love very much. She was looking for answers to really hard questions about her past, and even tougher questions about her future. This song was playing in the car as we spoke. While at a red light she repeated the following lyrics: But my joy has been on holiday And my peace has almost passed away Tell me I’m forgiven and free O He died, He died to rectify my hopeless situation And His blood commands my guilt to leave Now on Calvary I stand Empty pockets, open hands O there is noRead More →

Todays’ song is I Am Mountain by Gungor. I had second, third and even fourth thoughts about including this song. So far I’ve shared songs that have encouraged me, I’ve shared lyrics that remind me of Bible passages, and I’ve shared songs that helped strengthen my Christian walk. This is not one of those songs. Why then, would I include it in a series that is intended to bring encouragement? On day 2 of this series I mentioned that is not uncommon to sing a song, without really thinking about what we’re saying. You’re thinking about the kids, work, dinner, all while singing along. This isRead More →

I’m sure you’ve heard today’s song at one time or another. This is another one of those that has brought me to tears. Oh, it’s love so undeniable I, I can hardly speak Have you heard of Periscope? I discovered Periscope a little over a year ago, and the some of the people I’ve met have become a big part of my life. One of the first people I started following on Periscope was Lara Marriott. She’s part of a homeschool group for homeschool moms. I was drawn to her transparency in every broadcast. Lara is a worship leader, song writer, voice coach, blogger, andRead More →

I warned you, this is the 4th rend Collective song in this series, and it is not the last. I like to dance, but then again I’ve already said that too. This is another song, that makes me want to get up and dance. I mean, how can you help dancing, knowing that He has given us a heart and a home? When I think of fireworks, I think of great celebrations, like the 4th of July, the coming of the New Year or  fireworks display at the end of each day at Disneyland. Fireworks are exiting, they are loud, and they are reserved forRead More →

Ever Be is a new favorite of mine. My 9 and 11-year-old girls have been singing this song non-stop. They’re teaching themselves how to play it on the piano. I’m a Sunday school teacher and I have the immense privilege to hear about a hundred 4 to 7 year olds lifting their little voices in worship. There’s nothing quite like it. While I don’t have a video of children singing, I urge you to sing out loud, as you play the video below. Did you sing it? It’s hard not to. Bringing beauty from ashes For You will have Your bride In Luke chapter 4,Read More →
